At Ransome Memorials Ltd we pride ourselves in combining state of the art tools with age old traditional masonry methods to produce a beautiful tribute commemorating loved ones. We like to give our customers every opportunity to have a part in the design process to ensure we carry out families wishes to the best possible effect.
Memorial Ordering Process in few simple steps:
Step 1: Feel free to send us your inquiry by email or give us a call to discuss your chosen design and inscription with a member of our experienced team. If you are not sure what to choose then we can help you through the decision process by booking an appointment with us or by arranging a home visit. At this stage, we will also let you know of any churchyard or cemetery regulations that could affect your choice.
Step 2: When you are completely happy with your choice of memorial design, material and inscription, we will send you the quotation and layout drawing of the memorial for approval. The quotation will be a full estimate of all memorial costs, so you know upfront exactly what you will need to pay. If you decide to go ahead with the memorial, we will ask you to return a signed copy of the quote and layout drawing along with 50% deposit payment.
Step 3: Permission is needed for all memorial works, for that reason we will ask you to complete and sign a churchyard or cemetery application form. Once we have received an approved permit from the cemetery/churchyard, we will place the stone on order, which can take about 14 weeks to arrive. When the stone has come in stock, we will begin the process of manufacturing, lettering and designing of the memorial. For urgent orders there is an option to choose from the range of our memorials in stock. Any of those memorials could be completed by our accredited Masons within 4-6 weeks.
Step 4: When the work has been completed, we fix the memorial at the cemetery/churchyard and send you a photo of the memorial. At this stage we will send you an invoice with the outstanding balance.
We deliver and erect memorials in the Gloucestershire area and surrounding counties.
We offer a wide selection of headstones in various natural materials such as granite, marble, slate, York stone, Portland stone, limestone, sandstone, and more.
Each churchyard has unique regulations. Generally, light grey unpolished granite, slate, Yorkstone, and Portland stone are permitted. We can guide you through the regulations to select a suitable memorial.
As buying a memorial is a very personal process, we engage directly with our customers to ensure every detail is correct, from the material to the wording on the memorial.
On memorial inscription you will need to decide on both the wording and the look of the inscription. It’s a good idea to get familiar with the type of font and engraving that you like, and to decide if any symbols or photographs will be included. Our Guide to Memorial Inscriptions takes you through each of these elements and includes example wording to help get you started.
Whether you choose a standard design or a detailed custom etching, a layout drawing of your final memorial will always be provided at no charge for your approval.
Of course, if you would like to email or bring in a picture of the memorial you like we would be happy to match to the exact memorial and give you a quote for it.
This all depends on the type of memorial you purchased and the regulations of the cemetery/churchyard. Lawn memorials can usually be installed after 6 months, or straight away if a concrete beam is present. Traditional full kerb memorials are usually allowed after 12 months.
We will act on your behalf and arrange to pay all cemetery/churchyard fees.
Usually, delivery is around 14 weeks to get from order to erection through gaining permission from the burial authorities and production of the stone. There is also an option to order from the stones we have in stock (here) which can significantly reduce the waiting time.
